Made in Los Angeles
Cramerton Army Cloth is one of our all-time favorite chino fabrics. First manufactured in 1929 for the US Army by Cramerton Mills in North Carolina, this hard-wearing cloth became the standard uniform fabric for the American forces fighting abroad in WWII. When the GIs returned home and enrolled in universities across the country, they brought their uniform trousers with them—this time pairing them with oxford shirts and blue blazers, rather than army jackets, and a new civilian uniform was born.
The fabric is 100% cotton and a year-round 9oz weight. It softens and fades beautifully with age. In the world of chino twills, we've found this to have more character than any other fabric. The color is a perfect navy blue tone.
The Rivet Chino
The Rivet Chino is our signature casual trouser. We are confident that it will be among the finest pants that you've ever worn. It has the slim, tapered profile and medium-low rise of a jean, but the traditional pockets of a pant. The shape has two front hand pockets, two rear pockets, and a hidden coin pocket at the front waistband.
One of its most distinctive features is the natural herringbone taping running down the interior of the outseam. This handsome detail can be revealed when the chinos are cuffed.
The interior construction reflects a meticulous attention to detail. The unlined waistband is pitched for a close, comfortable fit. A chain-stitched rear lap-seam ensures the hard-wearing seam durability of a jean while maintaining the subtle seaming of a trouser. A heavy-gauge brass zipper and freeman-stripe cotton pocket bags finish it off.
Measurements & Sizing
The sizing and shape of the Rivet Chino are true to size. The inseam will shrink approximately 0.5" after washing, so please launder your Rivet Chinos before hemming.
All measurements below are taken with the pants laid flat. Waist is measured across the top of the waistband while the front portion is laid over the back. Rise is measured from the intersection point of the crotch seams to the top of the front waistband. Inseam is measured from the same point at the crotch to the leg opening. Thigh is measured from the lowest point of the crotch across the leg. Knee is measured across the leg from 13" below the crotch intersection.
